Untersberg - In the Sky High Above Salzburg

The Untersberg is a table-top mountain rising high above Salzburg on one side, and Berchtesgaden on the other. Its highest peak is the Berchtesgaden Hochthron at 1,973 metres.

We didn't climb all that of course. We cheated and took a cable car! But, we did ascend the final stretch under our own propulsion and in searing hot heat.

Here's the top of the cable car section. That's Salzburg in the background; you can make out the diagonal runway of Salzburg airport.

Don't know who these guys are, but they wouldn't get out of my shot!
